Award for Fairfields Primary School!

Wow! A massive congratulations to Fairfields Primary School for winning the “Recognition Award” at the Education Estates® #EduEst21 Awards for their work during the lockdown.

Congratulations to all and in particular to Matthew Shotton and the team at Fairfields Primary School.

Matthew wrote “Our ethos of being at the beating heart of the community manifested itself in many ways during both lockdown periods, with the period from January to March 2021 seeing increased and huge support for our approach throughout the pandemic.

Through our ‘open door’ policy that we adopted since opening in 2017, our relentless approach to maintaining positive relationships was the key to ensuring that our community stayed connected.

We launched our ‘Purple Hearts’ 💜 project whereby children in school and those at home as well as others in the community made and displayed purple hearts in their windows. The idea being, teachers walked those children fortunate enough to be in school, around the estate to spot purple hearts and to show random acts of kindness for those that were learning remotely.

Our ‘Bees Knees’ celebration assembly continued throughout the pandemic albeit remotely, however, certificates were personally hand-delivered to the children in recognition of their hard work and commitment to education. We also launched a community food bank. Staff and members of our community came together and donated generously to support those that were suffering hardship as a result of the pandemic.

We not only saw members of our immediate community access this provision, but word travelled fast and people from all over MK including key workers, started to take advantage of our offer.

In addition to this, the Senior Leadership team and school support staff held weekly virtual coffee sessions to ensure that parents too had a voice in how the school was supporting families during the most difficult of times.”

We are very proud of all our staff and children 💜
