Head Teacher Appointed

Following a rigorous recruitment process Inspiring Futures through Learning, Multi-Academy Trust is delighted to confirm the appointment of Matthew Shotton as Head Teacher at Fairfields Primary School. Matthew brings with him a wealth of experience, with his most recent accomplishment as Principal of Orchard Academy, ranked as one of 200 worst performing schools in the country and a long history of under performance, following rapid and sustainable development planning and school improvement intervention Matthew played a key role in transforming the school which is now ranked ‘Good’ by Ofsted. In 2012 he was appointed assistant Principal and worked alongside the Executive Principal and Two Mile Ash School to turn the school around. Within a year SATs results had risen from 37% to 80% by far the best results the school had ever celebrated. In 2014, he was appointed Principal of Orchard Academy and with the solid foundations already established the school continued to go from strength to strength with the most recent SAT’s results being among the top schools in Milton Keynes for both attainment and progress.

Matthew will take up the role of Head teacher of Fairfields Primary School in April 2017 and recruitment for additional roles will follow, as we build our first-class team of fully qualified, committed, dedicated and talented staff. Matthew commented “I am looking forward to taking up the role of Head teacher at Fairfield’s Primary and I am delighted and privileged to be given the opportunity to lead such an establishment at the heart of the Fairfields community; it is truly exhilarating. I can see the exciting potential; creating a vibrant, dynamic and inspiring community for learning.  I hope under my leadership Fairfields Primary School will grow to be a unique school in a very special family of schools within the IFTL Trust. It will be characterised by the development of the character of the whole child, the pursuit of knowledge and skills, a personalised approach, and a commitment to, and respect for, the community we serve. We will strive to provide an innovative, exciting and challenging curriculum offer; a wide range of extended enrichment opportunities where, together, we will develop inspirational citizens for the future.”

Sarah Bennett, CEO of IFtL said: “It has always been our vision to establish a community of schools who are driven to provide the very best for children and staff. We are delighted to have appointed Matthew to lead Fairfields Primary School, to what I know will be, an excellent and outstanding provision for the community it serves.  We are all really excited to welcome the new children and their families to the school in September 2017.”
