Year 5 – Egyptian Day

This week, Year 5 enjoyed an exciting and immersive Egyptian Day! The children stepped back in time and even tried walking like ancient Egyptians to get into the spirit of the day.

We explored the fascinating process of mummification, learning how wealthy Egyptians were preserved for the afterlife. To bring this to life, the children had a go at mummifying tomatoes, and then each other, which was both fun and memorable!

The children also got creative by designing and making their own Egyptian amulets, discovering their importance as symbols of protection and good fortune. In addition, the children learned about hieroglyphics and practised writing their names using this ancient Egyptian writing system.

It was a fantastic day full of learning, creativity, and hands-on experiences. The children showed great enthusiasm and curiosity throughout!
