We have received the below email from a Care Supervisor from Shenley Wood Village:
Hello I am a Care supervisor from Shenley wood village, we have approximately 370 elderly residents who are now in isolation, as the country is now basically in lock down. I worry for people mental health, human beings need to socialise. Therefore I wonder if it is possible for your students to write/email or even send DVD or memory sticks or skyp to the Elderly in your area, most areas will have a residential home or village. If every school does this it will help to alleviate the social isolation and help mental health, let us support each other. I also feel this would be a great educational experience, as we all know through age comes wisdom. These could be filtered through yourselves if you were concerned. Once we come though this it would be a great day out to meet the people who they were writing to. I’m sure the activities coordinator would be very pleased to hear from you. So please get in touch with your local home and see what you can set up. If you would like to contact me please do so Thank you Kind Regards Amanda Smith.
